ENGL 182
This quarter, I started exploring a more creative side of UW through English 182, or multimodal english. I was pleasantly surprised to see that this class was organized extremely differently from regular high school english classes, and was able to learn and enjoy the content a lot more. For a final portfolio project, I created this video to represent myself, and the several sides of nature I admire and see in myself.
Confocal Microscopy
Along with my classes this quarter, I also had an opportunity to get into the lab! As a part of the Nance Lab at UW, I'm given small research projects to help out my mentors with - but due to scheduling conflicts in fall quarter, I didn't have a lot to work on until winter. For a lab collaboration, I learned, practiced, and offered my time to produce tilescans of provided brain slices on the lab's confocal microscope - an impressive microscope utilizing lasers and a pinhole to create extremely clear images.

Quarter Summary
As I begun to get used to the campus and life away from home, this quarter went much smoother than the previous quarter, and I felt like I was able to prioritize my classes better and explore in the lab. I focused more on trying practice problems, organizing my notes better, and getting out of my dorm, and felt much more successful in classes. While winter quarter did feel more gloomy and less social, I still had fun with friends and enjoyed my quarter.
