FEVs and Mary Gates
Although this quarter was a much larger challenge than before due to the 18 credits I took, I had a lot of growth academically and professionally, especially with research! I was able to really get started on isolating female EVs (extracellular vesicles - read more about EVs here!), and I applied to and received the Mary Gates Endowment scholarship for my research. I am looking forward to continuing this project and developing my confidence in the lab!
Safety Team on HPS
While my course load was heavier, I still had enough free time to start contributing to a new club I joined: the Human Powered Submarine RSO! I had a lot of fun being able to get exposure to a different side of engineering, especially through machine shop training and learning about 3-D printing. I also had a chance to contribute creatively - and created a new logo for some club merchandise coming soon!

quarter summary
Winter quarter brought several challenges along with a glimpse of seasonal depression in Seattle, but I believe I still learnt a lot this quarter and had more time to reflect on how I wanted to spend the rest of time at UW. I was able to manage my time well and was proud to receive both the Mary Gates Endowment and a spot for the Honors Japan '23 study abroad (read more here!), but I definitely struggled with finding the time and energy to cultivate new friendships and manage my social life well. I hope to apply what I've learned next quarter, and am especially excited to start learning with the BioE cohort!
